Why self-awareness keeps you stuck
What this video is about
This is the gap most people get stuck in: the space between understanding yourself and actually doing something about it.
I’ve spent years watching clients gain remarkable insight into their own patterns. They can trace behaviors back to childhood, name their triggers, explain exactly why they made the choices they made. And then they keep making the same choices.
Insight feels like progress. It isn’t.
In this video, I break down the difference between self-rumination (which keeps you stuck) and self-reflection (which can still keep you stuck if it doesn’t lead somewhere). Both feel productive. Neither creates change on its own.
Why this matters
Therapy culture has over-indexed on understanding. We’ve treated insight like the destination when it’s actually just the map.
The real work starts when you close the gap between knowing and doing. That’s where Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) lives — not in endless analysis, but in committed action toward what actually matters to you.
This is video 7 in my 30-day video challenge.
